student based activity/ assessment zone
- Discovery Learning does not just take place within the classroom. Discovery learning is where you, the student, become actively engaged in your subject. For some students, learning best takes place when you read information, or when you listen to information or visually making sense, creating links between new and old information.
- Whichever method works best for you, engage with it, ask questions about what you are reading, listening to or watching (tv documentary, social media conversation, etc) on topics that relate to Home Economics (nutrition, food, social sciences, family, effective use and management of human, social or environmental resources, family finances, textiles and fashion, etc)
- When you engage with your own learning, you can understand key concepts/ learning outcomes more clearly - you can blend new information with old information, make connections and form links that enable you to understand and learn - the purpose of education.
- Use the resources below as starter-discovery-learning tools.
